cop or drop 2026: life is NOT embarrassing
Something I thought to invent while reminiscing on my Trays (Trent + days) were the Trentds (Trent + trends) I followed with my Triends (Trent + friends). One that has snuck its way into modern (ie. today's) lingo is "life is embarrassing."
The cop [ja] or drop [nee] committee 2026 (aka "yay or nay," "boom or doom," "in or out") has voted to drop/ nee/ doom/ out "life is embarrassing" because, well, let's embrace the cringe this year – things are only embarrassing if you let them be, this is indeed true, I have recently realized.
Now I will share a story of how I recently overcame something that one would absolutely consider embarrassing #resilient #strong. [some of you wonder how I get myself into these situations, I will let you invent your own theories].
Yesterday I was at a going away party for my oldest friend (as in friend I have known the longest). She is going to China for 2+ years. My family doctor is her aunt.
We were talking about how my brother "forgot" to hand in an assignment and called my parents at 1am crashing out and my mom said "go talk to the prof. I will give you $50 if they don't give you an extension." He got a month-long extension. I then talked about how profs have definitely heard crazier reasons than "I forgot" for asking for an extension.
I then used myself as an example. One time, three years ago, I asked for an extension on an assignment I had because I spilled water on my computer and it was in the shop getting fixed (prof told me to go to the library and use their computers, but you also get two more days to do it). I asked this question on a fateful Thursday night for an assignment due on Friday at 5pm – which was now due Sunday at 5pm. I spent all day on Saturday in the ER [I still handed it in, not to flex].
When talking about my trip to the ER, Lauren (friend) asked "why were you there?" So I tell her the following story: I was pooping at [what I swear was] 2am and then I passed out. I woke up and [I swear] it was light out – no clue for how long, but I was on the bathroom floor. I then wake up and I go to former roommate MJ/ Maddy/ Madyson's room and knock on the door and say "MJ something is wrong" and then I collapse in the hallway – I go right back to sleep??????
The next day, I call telehealth because I am stressed about what happened and the nurse told me to call 911 and take an ambulance to the hospital. This is because my heart is racing???? I told her I have anxiety so my heart is always racing – she said call 911 or else I will on your behalf. MJ calls the ambulance, I pack a little bag and go out in the living room – I tell everyone "I am going to the hospital" The ambulance picks me up.
TL;DR – Bloodwork was normal, I was told that while I was pooping, I cut off circulation to my brain and that's why I passed out.
Lauren says to her dad, who is mid-conversation with my doctor "did you know that veronica shat herself so hard that she fainted and had to go to the hospital" My doctor pretended to cover her ears LOL. I was like "are you made at me"
I am reclaiming the embarrassment – this is only embarrassing if I let it be. This event is truly, objectively funny. Life is NOT embarrassing... <3
this was really insightful thank you for sharing what an adventure you went on
