good morning blog-readers
blog lore
Yesterday at work, I told my coworker that I was going to start a blog. She said "oh, like Tumblr?" GIRL I already have a Tumblr... and a computer blog will actually maybe add more interest to my life. This coworker of mine is pretty awesome, but she told me Drakkar Noir from Raising Hope (picture on the left) was not a slay when I suggested we cosplay him for our (purely hypothetical) screamo band. She keeps telling baby boomers that they're iconic, and I don't know how to tell her they have no clue what that means.I got inspired to name this blog (veronicaslaptop) when an old lady (pushing 75) told me her email was connieslaptop @ hotmail or whatever (yes, I have a hotmail account, I am not THAT young). That was kind of iconic of Baby Boomer Connie, to be honest. And then Clara M and I went to second cup to see if the domain "veronicaslaptop" is available (it is). But at the end of the day, I am not paying 99 cents a month for a website URL, especially when adding the blogspot. com is kind of super nostalgia. That was in June.
I think I told everyone I know that I used to go to a friend's house in the computer room and read her older sister's blogspot on their family desktop like a diary dramatic reading... that didn't happen. I am confessing this because I don't think anyone is going to read this, everyone I love KNOWS I love to lie (my therapist said it's okay as long as I am not hurting anyone). Also, for the record, I never had any friends with older sisters in elementary school because they didn't like me for eccentricity, and they were bitches (can I swear on here?), so I didn't like them either.
Now here we are, it's September, and I have found yet another way to procrastinate homework. I am doing fine in school, but considering all the tests/ assignments I have had up to know have been open book/ pass-fail where you pass as long as you do it, that is not a good indicator to tell how I am doing in classes. Especially my physiology class— I took physiology 1 last semester, and it went average. My ability to excel in the course was most likely stunted by mental illness, new school scaries, and the fact that the prof spoke at 1000 miles a minute and refused to have office hours or answer questions during tests/ exams because it was counterproductive. So I was like: not taking that again. So I went to the first lecture for my gender studies elective class and despite having a good rapport over email with my professor (who was SO cool btw), I was like hell no. They were making me write my thoughts about the 40 page readings and hand them in for marks — that wasn't going to happen. So I opened my laptop, dropped this class and switched into physiology.
And then I went to my next class, which was sociology, my second elective (because transferring schools and then programs gives you some liberties with your schedule/ course load... I wouldn't recommend the experience). and this prof (I love her) says to turn to the person next to you and talk about this concept, so then I meet Julia who is so lovely and I tell her, I am not listening, I am looking at classes to switch out of this one, but I can talk about sociology (I had to google what sociology meant like 20 mins earlier). At the end of class, we exchanged phone numbers, to which she said "that's so intimate" which is so true in this day and age. Anywho, the only other course running at the same time as sociology would have been taught by a prof who failed me last year so I will not run back into her arms like old friends. So I decided to stay in sociology.
More on physiology later <3
