i dont want to get poltical on blogspot dot com but...
Hello blog readers, contrary to popular belief, I am alive. I am impossible to kill.
I got my first email account on January 13th, 2013 at the ripe old age of nine. It was a hotmail (this does NOT mean that I am a dinosaur). Just over a month later on February 18th, 2013, hotmail officially switched to outlook. I read old emails instead of doing homework and emailed my best friend from first grade (we had a tragic ten year old girl friendship breakup in October 2013, even though it was a long time coming), I think it is time to reconnect after not speaking for 8 years.
The thing is that I sent it to her hotmail... NOBODY USES THEIR HOTMAIL ANYMORE except my 26 y/o cousin and my mother. Who knows if we will even make contact.
My superpower is burning bridges and feeling evil. I wrote an entire film (very loosely) based on my life, there is also a music album and a musical version of the film. I am going to turn it into a book. It is basically a self-insert fanfiction where I get revenge on EVERYONE who has wronged me. No one is safe.
I have an exam for my history class and I have been learning about USA from 1750 to 1807 (so far...), and when I say I have opinions... I have never seen myself as a political individual other than doing my civic duty and voting ... (remember... the provincial election is upon us)!!
Content warning: American history... enough said.
Disclaimer: I have never watch Hamilton the musical, nor do I ever plan to. But when I say that Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the musical as a means to tell the story of America through the lens of the capitalism-pegged federalist party... I am truly appalled by this madness. Like Hamilton didn't deserve to die (Aaron Burr was actually insane and needed intensive therapy), and I feel for him because he was actually dealing with some pretty horrifying family stuff. But I draw the line at promoting federalist nonsense and making the democratic-republican party (the only other party at that time) look like the bad guy. For example, Thomas Jefferson.
Thomas Jefferson was not one of those politicians preoccupied by corruption, greed and the power associated with such positions in government. Other than being severely racist, and setting a nasty precedent by buying land and forcibly removing Indigenous people from their ancestral lands when they wouldn't assimilate to "American culture," WHATEVER THAT MEANS... America was only 20 years old at the time, what do you mean they had a culture. I am older than 20... should I be calling my eccentricity and backstory culture? The point is... in the grand scheme of things, he is the least radical of the first three presidents.
John Adams (POTUS 2) created at least 5 laws giving himself just reason to deport foreigners, and more laws making it harder for immigrants to get their citizenship. Jefferson overturned those laws when he was president. Tell me you don't see parallels to our world today.
I'm not saying that I support the Louisiana Purchase, but I like a good bargain. Purchasing land for 4 cents per acre is actually insane. Nor do I support Napoleon getting a payout of $15 million dollars... but the Louvre is an iconic museum for a reason. Reading Plunder by Cynthia Saltzman really puts that into perspective. Looting is not okay, I am NOT an apologist. But history happens for a reason... we need to learn from our mistakes and move on.
Back to the point, Hamilton having portrayed the democratic-republican party as the "bad guys," is so messed up. Even though the Hamiltonian perspective (especially when it came to money) is what America was truly built on, but what good has that done for the world? The cheeseburger was invented in Germany. All America has built is Twitter and the polio vaccine (which were both built on greed, power lust and lies). NOT JONAS SALK!!! MARK MY WORDS.
Jefferson was pro-taxing the rich (the first major American politician to do so), anti-capitalism (me too – if you know me, you know I like keeping my money where it belongs: in a shoebox hiding in a secret location), Jefferson really emphasized the rights associated with the 1st amendment (right to assembly, freedom of the press (free speech) and freedom of religion – which is pretty woke when you really think about it (rather than knowing it was because the OG Americans just didn't want to be catholics and hated the Francophones)). What do you think the point of this blog is? FREE SPEECH.
Quick sidebar: I took a quiz where you put in your opinions on politics and they tell you who to vote for in the upcoming election. They told to vote communist... girl. I may hate capitalism, but not in a radical way like that. It was actually hilarious... that my values match 96% with those of communists. I don't want to be forced to do manual labor, but I like the prospect of the state assigning me my own home–which I own. Not all communist is bad... without the USSR we wouldn't have Tetris (I am NOT a USSR apologist).
Hamilton was pro-bank, he created THE bank (national bank of America). Ever since my banker told me how to invest my money and then got mysteriously fired within the week, I have been firmly anti-bank (for legal reasons that is a joke). Hamilton created all the policies in the world that I am so against... which brings me to the important question of why was Lin-Manuel Miranda such a big supporter of capitalist greed? Who paid him to do this?
We used to make art for the joy it brought us. Now artists do it for the clout, the followers, and of course the monetary gain. No Jessica... you are not going to become Taylor Swift (queen-eco-terrorist herself FR). I AM NOT A TAYLOR SWIFT APOLOGIST. MY HATE FOR HER IS JUSTIFIED and the number of private jets she has is just TOO MANY.
In light of current events, the super bowl was so satisfying. I screamed when Kendrick Lamar sang "not like us" (he literally taught me that I not hating enough... big things coming soon) and every time Travis Kelce was shown on the television, Nonna would say "he looks awful." – a win for the old Italian ladies all over. Also having a professional (Ontario) football player at the Super Bowl watch party spewing tidbits that prove there was no way Kansas City would come back after the embarrassing first half of the game, at least statistically.
This hater-loaded environment plus the snack-y food selection AT NONNA'S OF ALL PLACES was perfect. Siena and Drew (cousin + boyfriend) made jalapeno poppers and instead of asking Drew questions about his life, I just googled them because he has a Wikipedia page. And the halftime show. The audacity of having Kendrick Lamar performing but also telling him he cannot swear was CRAZY. I half expected him to bring Drake out on stage and publicly execute him (he may as well have done that, tbh). The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the national anthem – and that's my actual favourite song.
The entire dinner table went silent while Kendrick performed. If you know Italians, they CANNOT be silent to save their lives, especially not in a large group. The volume on the television was 75 ... we did not think it could go higher than 30 before that fateful day (last week). Uncle Dom and my mom were dancing to the music in the corner – very entertaining. Zia Mary paid no attention to the television (she doesn't care about football).
I don't care about football either. I used to play football in middle school and high school and that is the only reason I understand the rules and am interested in watching the Super Bowl. It does not mean I care about the sport, nor does it mean I enjoy watching the sport. I don't understand even the culture of watching football "with the boys" or whatever (maybe because I am not a boy). Like what do you mean, you are going to sit on some loser's crusty couch and wear your Buffalo Bills baseball cap (wrong sport, buddy) INDOORS and eat chips from a bag. Instead I am doing literally anything else.
After the halftime show, I tucked myself into bed and read my book... speaking of; Jennifer Lynn Barnes is a genius! If you have not read her books (specifically the Naturals and the Inheritance Games), you are missing out. I will lend you the books (if you ask). I have many opinions on both series and I only know one person who has read both (shout-out to Lauren from kindergarten). She is literally a genius and I will die on this hill.
Back to the talk of America and sports: I do not understand the booing of the American national anthem at sports games (nor do I understand the booing of the Canadian national anthem in retaliation... very creative guys) – just listen to the Star Spangled Banner one time and think about the story telling... ten out of ten! That song is hands-down the best national anthem on account of the story arc alone – the theatrics of it all makes me shiver. I DO NOT SUPPORT THE WAR OF 1812 – I do support the American sentiment of Anglophobia, I'm not very big on wars, however.
Yes, Donald J. Trump is doing horrible things to my beloved country of Canada (as well as the rest of the world while we're here), but I think if we maintain a strong central government united against the common cause, and we continue to BUY LOCAL and reject the global food system that damages the planet as well as the way we perceive food, all will be well. Actually the implementations of tariffs (especially on foods) is going to teach Canadians from all ends of the political spectrum to start thinking about where our food comes from, which companies own other companies – and reroute our money to Canadian-owned companies (preferably locally-owned), so we can support our own country's economy and dismantle the American-owned oligopoly controlling everything from what we are eating to how our food is acquired (specifically in farming contexts).
The only thing that I am worried about in light of the Trump tariffs is Canadian oil and the Southern-Ontario car manufacturing plants – as an Eastern Ontarian, I feel like I am not very qualified to comment on how this affects others halfway across the province, nor am I gooped and gagged by Big Oil enough to comment on the money lost by or the ludicracy of routing Canadian oil from Alberta to Michigan, then into Ontario to serve Eastern Canada. Again, as long as our government remains strong, we create a united front against the states, and either they will come to their senses with time, or we will find someone elsewhere to buy our oil. I am against pipelines, but I am also against greed, especially by nepo-baby adults who have never needed to work a job in their lives and already have billions of dollars shoved up their ass, and deserves to have a taste of their own medicine.
All this talk of strong government really makes you wonder why Doug Ford is calling for an election at this point. He is diverting more of our government resources... and for what? (actually I am pro-election, I have a crush on a guy that works at Elections Ontario – source: his LinkedIn). Anyways, don't let all this spending go to waste – remember that all this money was taken from your paycheck; (for the Ontarians) please vote in the election and DO NOT FORGET to cash your $200 cheque that is coming /has come in the mail #free money (but not really, because this is what our tax money goes towards...?).
Back to the United States of America... while watching the national anthem sang at the Super Bowl 2025, there was a flash to Donald Trump in his little president box doing a salute. I would pay good many (no more than a crisp high five) to see him sing the national anthem. Imagine Donald Trump's voice... now try to imagine him singing... It would be AWESOME. In the culture of America, there are already some pretty famous attempts at signing the Star-Spangled Banner (I am pointedly looking at Fergie and Quavo), it's time to add another to the list.
Arguably the only good thing to come from Donald Trump's presidency were the memes. And let's be real, Donald Trump telling America on national television to consume Lysol gives the same energy as Justin Trudeau telling Canada on national television to avoid speaking moistly. The COVID-19 pandemic surely gave us some gems. The amount of Justin Trudeau smear campaign ads I have been seeing on YouTube recently is actually appalling, especially since a date for the federal election has not yet been announced (although insider trading is telling us that it will be earlier than October 20, 2025 – source: CTV news, 2 days ago).
There are calls for Justin Trudeau to step down as the Liberal Party leader, and I think he is past his expiration date. He was only elected because we wanted him to legalize marijuana. Unless he's planning to legalize shrooms, I don't think that he will be a popular candidate. It's kind of giving America voting John Quincy Adams, after his father was already the President. J.Q. Adams ran a very unpopular administration... sound familiar? (in case it doesn't: Justin Trudeau is the son of Pierre Elliot Trudeau).
Justin Trudeau is not going to promise us the legalization of shrooms. He is not smart enough to realize that's how you get votes from the younger demographic – middle-aged and older women already find him hot so he has their votes. I have not heard of anyone thirsting over Pierre Poilievre. Any federal executive branch candidate could promise to give the weed and vape stores see-through windows and they'd have my vote. Why are they afraid of people looking in the window? We will never know because we cannot see through the windows!!
I'll tell you what. In the federal election I will be voting communist because I am so gooped and gagged over Joseph Stalin and I think that just like in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he came out of an iceberg after 66 years. He has been defrosting and plotting his next move since 2019 – his death was staged. If you are confused, this is satire? My riding DOES have a representative for the communists, so fuck you I guess.
