my small business broken heart

I work for a corporation. Related by unrelated; here are a list of things that have forsaken me since monday: children, corporations, autumn weather, soda pop cup sizes, dry lips, autumn rainy day, taking blurry photos of bugs with a desolate cityscape crystal clear in the background, sociology class, emailers, nurse practitioners, and probably other things but I cannot be bothered to name any more. Side note: if any of my coworkers were to ever find this, it would SO hilarious because I talk mad shit and TAG IT. Hey guys (if you're here), please do not fire me, I promise I can change. So previously, my workplace was boss-less which meant I couldn't get fired because we are already short staffed, and we wouldn't have anyone to fire me or to hire any new people (because they are in need). When I got into work yesterday, my world is already in shambles. All I have eaten all day was sausage and dried fruit for breakfast and lunch and I was trying to stave off hunger with teas,...

I hate teenagers

Talking to teenagers is like getting whiplash and then you are thrown into a tornado for a few spins and then after you land they tell you their whole life story and when you try and offer advice to their problems they just say 'bruh' and ignore you. This weekend comes right out of a fever dream. I am now beefing with this guy named Gabriel (teenager, probably) over the school email system. Over what?, you may be wondering... he is my peer notetaker who is ghosting me. The most recent email I sent him said: Just tell me if you dropped the class. And still, after DAYS, no reply so I am confused in that class.  Currently at Starbucks. I had the most socially awkward conversation with the barista who took my order. I tend to play dumb in coffee shops and ask for recommendations and such. I said that I have never been here [as in this location] and when she said 'oh', I had to clarify that I, in fact, have been to Starbucks before. I told my cousin (13F) that I am going to...

this is my academic downfall

OKAY FIRST THINGS FIRST (unpaid promotion) ... i ordered these GORGEOUS EARRINGS on my coworker's Etsy shop. Please check it out !!! It's called The Cottontails Nook (Etsy). Their earrings are so so so cute and I got the knife ones with the blood drippy drops on them (because have you met me). They are 3D printed and are designed and printed by Kelsey's finacé. For all of y'all without pierced ears... they will eventually expand to other household-y stuff and I am so positive they will be just as cute. All I hope is that the knife is okay to wear to work because I am a shameless promoter when I need to be. But also, I don't have a boss at the moment, so who would dress code me? Also they cannot fire me because we are so extremely short staffed. Anyways, I will absolutely share photos when they arrive.  So if you read the title, and then were immediately faced with promotional content. You know how I feel when I watch videos of people subjecting their sims to human ...

Baby spaghetti for the french vampire soul

Something about me must scream 'french speaker' because i have been stopped 3 times since monday to give people directions in french. and that's fine except I barely know my lefts and rights (the cornerstone of giving directions) in english, so when it comes to french 'droites et gauches'... UHHHHHHH I am hopeless. Anyone who has spoken to me since summer 2023 may know that I am deathly afraid of people named Ella, and I have no explanation for this – the point is; I am sitting in the teacher college building (as I do most wednesdays) hoping I don't run into an Ella. (there are two uOttawa Ella's and I have gone all of September and October without seeing her so it's looking good maybe???).  I just ran into a former classmate from last semester (NOT named ella), we tend to run into each other under very random circumstances. I told her "you can't have it all" and she said "you can't have anything." and then I said "you ca...

Weekly update – October 19

Preface: I am at second cup and it seems that the group of 5 men sitting next to me are doing dragon's den because people keep coming in and showing them clothes and then they start speaking Arabic so the extent of my eavesdropping ends there. One of them looks like Tim Robinson from 'I Think You Should Leave." I hate saturdays because the coffee shops are a mixture of teenagers, Carleton kids (germs), grown men and old people who yap endlessly whereas Monday to Friday, it's me and the old ladies who are knitting and reading SILENTLY.  Work is a strange place. I went in on Wednesday after a week of being off (because I only do 1.5 days/ week) and it was like walking into a funeral home. The sweet smell of treats and flowers in the kitchen, melancholy energy. Everyone who I passed by told me they missed me and usually I have 1 week between shifts (and Thanksgiving was this week so we all missed out on a day). That's when I found out that three people at my workplac...

welcome to midterm day (thanks I hate it)

One midterm down, two to go and then I am "free" for the next 5 business days. Yesterday I spent the morning at Second Cup and I was so jittery. I knew it was because I had too much caffeine. So it turns out that the harmless morning tea I had was green tea, and it also turns out that green tea has caffeine in it. I worked on a cheat sheet I used for my astronomy midterm (the exam I already wrote), which I used a crisp zero times. Also worth noting that happened yesterday, I saw my german prof from last semester ... i love her. The exam went fine. I have two amulets on my person, a pocket full of pencils and granola bars, my offensively earwaxy loop earbuds, and ten bucks that lives in these pants pockets and has gone through the wash too many times to count. I write about my experience writing the exam since it's my first time in the exam center. When I came by a few weeks ago to check out the exam center, they asked me if I got a private room and I had no clue because m...

midterm day is upon us

hey blog readers... midterm day (ie. 3 midterms in one day) is upon us. I should be in the final stages of studying. but i am writing another blog entry instead so... you win some and you lose some I guess. I am studying for my astronomy exam on Thursday and the textbook keeps talking about a Carrington event... like yeah, darling, i KNOW who is back from jail. Related but unrelated: me and my friend Lauren were trying to call our brothers at the same time and make them talk to each other on speakerphone. Her brother was in the library and my brother didn't pick up because he's in an Uber. I told him to put me on speakerphone and I would have "darling guess who's back from jail." But my brother hates fun it seems. I am currently at a coffee shop called Haven (I love this place it does not make me think of a wistful rainy spring day and it DEFINITELY doesn't make me think about the end). My German professor Brigit mentioned it in the first class and I was like...

Updates on my new sims world & on life i guess

Image
So Maggie had the baby. His name is Michael Cera. The Grim Reaper is still naked (in his undies) and out there reaping souls. The funny thing about sims is that someone on the development team was like... kids aren't able to garden without sufficient mental skill. But... a child doesn't need any prerequisites to commune with the dead. So yeah, Julianna is a child medium.  No other interesting things have happened in the sims, YET. I keep forgoing the plot-line gameplay to build houses. My favourite style of houses are cottagey-city houses like in Hintonburg and Old-Ottawa-South OR brownstone houses in New England. There is something delicious and mysterious about the wooden panelling they got going on. and then I decorate the outside to make them look nice (but it unfortunately always looks like a regular suburban house) and then I give up on decorating the interior.  Apparently the only real person I have mentioned other than the gay man I want to befriend is Clara M (...
